Elephant Butte Lake Fishing Report

Wednesday March 9, 2016

09 MARCH… IT’S GETTING FUN..

White bass are pretty good  with Shad colored crankbaits and slow trolling with minnows.  Bill Smolack caught a nice bunch of Whites up north along the Black Bluffs trolling with White & Pink or Chrome Bandits, at about 25′ deep..

Frank Vilorio is having his best catches in the mornings and late evenings…

Still no word on the Crappie..  they are spotty with no patterns yet..  I will keep ya’ advised what I hear..

Catfish are still strong at the north end, 15′ – 25′ along the rocky sides.. Using night crawlers and frozen shrimp… Chumming with dog food or frozen minnows..(which we conveniently sell by the bag)..

If you are fishing from the bank, the Damsite area and Long point are your best bets.. Long casting from the bank with the above mentioned crankbaits or live minnows…

Still getting reports of some big Whites caught very shallow.. so if you are not finding em’, change your method of attack often..

It is going to be a warm weekend.. come see us..
