Elephant Butte Lake Fishing Report

Thursday May 3, 2018

THE WIND QUIT…. FOR A WHILE ANYWAY…

This week has been nothin’ short of brutal… the wind just has not stopped..

until today,, it just flat beautiful..

Water temperature is 59 at mid lake in the A.M.

The Crappie have turned on today.  biting on live Fatheads and small tube baits around Kettletop and Castle Rock.

Crappie, walleye and white bass fishing is good,

Good reports on the Walleye this week despite the wind.  Biting on Walley Divers and yellow or chartreuse crank baits, small curly tail jigs off the bottom around Rattlesnake Island, the flats of McRae Canyon and along South Long Point.  The best action has been around the areas that transition from rocky bottoms to sand..  if that makes sense..

White bass biting on kastmasters,  crank baits and ripple shad all over lake. Just troll with crank baits (white or chrome) until you find em’.  then jiggin with Kastmasters, Slab Spoons.  Throwing end line spinners was a good deal this morning..

No Catfish reports this week,, but you can bet that they are good on fresh cut bait and live bait.

Watch the weather, cause it can change quick..

Tell mama that the honey-do list is just too long..

come see us..

Remember–“we all live downstream”

That’s nice mess of Walleye. Caught on Frank Vilorio’s boat..
