WATER IS UP…FISHIN’ IS GREAT…04/20/17

The water is rising fast… inflows of around 2500 ft3/s or better… with outflows in the 1400 ft3/s range are providing a very good water level projections…  The water Gods tell us that with the abundance of snow still packed up north, we should have the highest levels in many years…

The really cool thing is that the water is not receding this time of year like usual.. so the mama fish can sit on their beds and raise a nice brood of fry… without the water leaving them on the beach… we should have a really good spawn this year.. So, PLEASE stay out of the NO FISHING coves for the next few weeks…

White Bass are just about everywhere… mainly close to the main lake off of points..  Live bait & Kastmasters have been the best this week in 15 -30 feet of water.  Bank fishing has been very good up north, tight lining with live bait.  Fishing from the main lake points..

Kris Flores has found the catfish in shallow water using cut bait.  Lots of medium size Cats have been caught facing the main lake around the Monticello ramp.. bank fishing with cut bait, live bait & shrimp..

Walleye are starting to show up better.. actually, pretty good..  shallow waters around South Long Point, Castle Rock & North McRae Canyon..  Walley divers, Road Runners and swim baits.. Chartreuse & Chrome..

Some Stripers have been caught, not enough to say that they are running… Caught on larger crank baits & the old dependable Horse Head Jigs..  Trolling in the Channel by Kettle Top and along cliffs on the east side..pretty “hit & miss” though…

The Catfish Tournament is next week… April 29th..email me for a copy of the rules, or scroll back several weeks of fishing reports.. there is one attached there…  More to follow as the event approaches..

Tell mama that if she lets you fish this weekend,,, you will bring her to the Catfish Tournament next week…

yea….that’ll work…

No pictures this week, I expect you guys to start sending me pictures of grinnin’ kids with equally confused fish..
