Elephant Butte Lake Fishing Report

Wednesday April 6, 2016

The water has finally warmed up enough for the Crappie to get active.

Good catches have been coming out of McRae canyon along the edges of the trees and weeds in about 15′ of water.. using small spinners, fathead minnows, Panther Martins, and just about any thing that looks like a bait fish…

Also catching Whites in McRae and around Kettletop on both sides..  The Black Bluffs north of Kettletop seem to have slowed down..

I have not heard of much activity at or around Damsite yet..

Frank Vilario has been putting his customers on large Crappie using fat head minnows.  Don’t be afraid to book a trip.. he is worth it!!

Catfish are still good as in last weeks report..

No Walleye yet.

The black bass are getting very active off of the main points using plastics and jerk baits.. Justin Orr won last weeks American Bass Angler tournament in his new Nitro ..  with an impressive bag of BIG fish..

Last week was the first week of my HUGE cinnamon rolls..  I make em’ on Saturday and Sunday mornings.. So get here early.. they are HOT and Fresh..(was that a selfless plug or what??)

The fishin’ is good, the honey-doos will be there when you get back.. so come & see us..
