Elephant Butte Lake Fishing Report

Com’on,,, Time to go fishin”

Fishing is really gettin’ good..

White bass fishing is good on crank baits, soft plastics casting at the bank and also trolling in 20 to 40 feet of water.  Trolling with White, Chartreuse and Chrome/Blue Bombers or your favorite crank bait. Most of the trolling action has been on the east side, around Castle rock, Kettletop and the rocky points in the “S” curve…  Some action was reported this morning just North of McRae Canyon.  But I have not heard of any action in McRae Canyon yet.

Nothing reported from the south end yet either.  Looks like the best bet is to start on the East and North East Side…

We have been selling lots of live Shiners, most folks are drift fishin’ or slow trolling with them and doing very good in the same areas as above.  Good reports from some locals night fishing on Long Point.

We have not heard any thing about any Crappie yet.. We have live Fathead minnows for you Crappie fisher-folks..

If any one catches anything on the south end or finds Crappie. Please let me know..

Black Bass and Small Mouth on soft plastics off of the main lake and secondary points are still a good bet.

There is a Bass Tournament this weekend so my Bass reports are slim.. no one is givin’ up any info..

Catfish are still outstanding.. North end, shallow water, cut bait, live bluegills etc…

We have a really good snow pack up North, just waiting to thaw out and head down this way.. currently the inflows have been in the 700 – 900 cu. ft/ min range.  That translates into a few inches per day… There have been rumors from good sources that they may not open the discharge until early June!!  Wouldn’t that be nice!!  It is looking like it may turn out to be a great year for the water levels… cross yur’ fingers..

Check out Tracker, Bass Pro, Cabelas new line of Off Road vehicles… www.trackeroffroad.com   I have seen these units, they are very high end equipment and priced right…  We are going to receive a truck load of these in a few weeks.. so come buy one…

For you folks in the El Paso area, we are having a Parking Lot Boat sale on Friday & Saturday March 29th & 30th.   stop by and see us… but a boat…

Tell mama that you gotta go fishin’ before the lake gets crowded…

come see us…
