Elephant Butte Lake Fishing Report

Wednesday April 11, 2018

The fish are getting very active.. Kinda like we like ’em…

White bass fishing is very good around Rattlesnake island, Kettle Top and McRae canyon.  Trolling with white Bombers, White or Yellow Crank baits.. Start Slabbin’   when you get into a mess of em.. (that’s jiggin’ with slab spoons)

Also, Ash Canyon and the south side of the Butte were very good this morning. (Wednesday)

Water temperature in the morning is 56 -57 range, clarity 2 to 3 feet depending on the algae bloom,

Walleye fishing is good on gravel bottoms 8 to 20 feet.  Most Walleye are being caught on yellow crank baits while trolling for Whites over gravel bottoms with a little structure.. East side of the lake by Castle rock and Boy Scout Cove..

If you are fishing for the Walleye, don’t forget to work the banks on the south side of Long Point.. Trolling with yellow Walleye divers..  no reports from there yet.. but that is always a “go to” spot for a few months every year..

Crappies are starting to bite in 10 to 20 feet around structures on live bait (fatheads) and small jigs.

Large mouth bass fishing is good on plastics and kastmasters & slabs.

No Catfish reports this week,, but you know that it is good..

Be careful this weekend,

Tomorrow the  wind is supposed to blow “hardn’nuff to use a log chain for a windsock”…

It is supposed to lay down for the weekend,,,but that’s just a forecast…

Tell mama that you’ll take her to the lake if she let’s ya skip the “honey do list” one more week…

come see us
