I just figured out that my last several posts did not publish.. RATs… sorry bout that.. my fault..
It’s been awful hot here lately… if it gets any hotter, we’re gonna have to take stuff off that we really oughta keep on…
But the fish don’t know it.. they’re biting really strong..
Water temperature in the morning is 75 degree at mid lake.
Walleye bite is still good using swim baits, crank baits (Wally Divers) and curly tail jigs in 8 to 15 feet of water, target rocky point’s leading to main body of lake. Chartreuse color , chrome crank baits, also white are good choices.
White bass bite is off the wall, mid morning is very productive, active feeding white bass are feeding on shad on top. The four ladies from Santa Fe (in the picture) caught their limit in 3 hours slabbing silver dollars off the bottom on ledges in 10 to 20 feet of water. pretty much all of the “go to” stuff is working now.. slabs, Kastmasters, end line spinners, white Bombers..
The Whites are starting to push bait fish into the shallow water in the backs of coves on east side also. Throw slabs and crank baits at them..
If you don’t catch fish in 15 minutes or so…don’t keep doing the same things.. MOVE…
Night fishing is still very good.. Any structure around the main lake points, the marinas, north east side of Rattlesnake Island have been very productive.. Most any where that you can set up with lights will fill the cooler.. Live bait at night under the lights..
Black bass are strong in the backs of coves on the east side, early mornings on crank baits and soft plastics.
The crowds are really getting thick leading up to this weekend.. the Fireworks display will be on Saturday June 30 at about “dark thirty” sharp.. if you have never seen the Fireworks over the lake.. it’s worth the trip..
Tell mama that the “honey do” list will have to wait, you gotta go to the lake to see what all the fuss is about..
come see us
