Elephant Butte Lake Fishing Report

Wednesday March 7, 2018

The weather is warming up and the wind is staying down..  the Fishing is pickin’ up..

Large whites are still being caught jigging slabs (white, chartreuse) and Kastmasters on the North End as well as the east side/ main lake.  20 -25 feet.  they don’t seem to be traveling in schools, but they have been dependable and bigger than average.

Have reports of Whites and Blacks getting active north of Kettletop on the east side.. in the openings of the coves.  Trolling deep and jigging slabs, Kastmasters and white grubs..

Walley have been starting to show up along the steep banks and cliffs of the north east side..  Chartreuse and Chrome Walley Divers, as well as live shiners.  15 -25 feet..

Catfishing is excellent using cut-bait and live bait in shallow and deep water.. up North around trees and steep rocks as usual.

Sounds like the most dependable action is up North on the east side..

Stephanie is getting the store well stocked with fishin’ stuff.. With the help of “Muddy River Catfishing” she is bringing in a good selection of the right stuff to be successful at catfishing..  Should be here by this weekend…. we hope..

Get your gear out of storage and come see us…

Nice day on Byron Lucero’s boat..
