Elephant Butte Lake Fishing Report

Thursday April 6, 2017

The fishing has picked back up today after a windy past few days…

Not sure what it is supposed to do this weekend.. the forecast calls for slightly partly cloudy.. maybe a little windy.. so it you are inclined to come fishin’… check the weather..

Today, White Bass have been good around Rattlesnake Island, Jet Boat Cove, South Long Point & Castle Rock.. trolling with crank baits in 6 – 8 foot of water.. Yellow, Chartreuse & Chrome seem to be the ticket.. Whites are starting to move up into the coves with the warmer daytime water.. so that is encouraging..

Night fishing is starting to get active, mostly around Rock Canyon.. using live bait either on the bottom or mid water..

Crappie are hitting in the backs of coves with small Fathead Minnows.. (we got em’).. also end line spinners and Kastmasters.

Few more reports of Walleys, trolling the flats of McRae and South Long Point with Wally Divers and Crank Baits.. Yellow and Chrome..

Smallmouth and Blacks have been caught on secondary points and backs of coves with plastics and jerk baits.

Catfish are good on cut baits & stink baits at the same old places and also mid channel up north..

Water clarity has been poor because of the wind,   temps are around 56 at mid lake in the mornings..

See “Bob’s Blog” for more poop on the Catfish Tournament..

Tell Mama that the Honey- do list must be notarized before you can complete it.. (like you are gonna get away with that)

come see us..
