The lake continues to drop.. not sure when the Water Gods will shut the dam… as low as it is, we have still seen it lower.. and it always makes a rebound.. maybe not soon, but it will rebound..
The duck huntin’ promises to be outstanding though with the amount of marsh land that is growing up North.. at least that is sumthin’ to look forward to..
Right now the fishin’ is still very good..
The White bass are running strong, still chasing bait fish up to the surface all over the lake.. The best areas seem to be the flats on the North side of McRae Canyon, around the dam and on the South East side around Pirate’s Cove..
Keep watching for the birds.. then get to em’ and throw Kastmasters, Jigs, End Line Spinners or Crank Baits.. pretty much anything that resembles a silvery bait fish..
Have had good reports on the Small Mouth Bass off of all of the rocky ledges on the South East side. Just North of the Butte. Pirates Cove and South… Throwing just about any Plastics..
Did finally get a few reports of Catfish, 15 – 20′, rocky ledges and up North in the river channel.. mainly cut bait and live Bluegills…
Frank has been catching nice large Crappies in McRae on the North Side on live Fatheads.
Bank fishing has been good, Main lake rocky points using live shiners or white Bombers. Bank fishing at night using live shiners or Night Crawlers. The end line LED lights have been a real good deal if your are night fishing from the bank.. ( we got em’)
The best bite is still early to mid morning. Also Night Fishing is still very good. Saw some really impressive stringers come from the docks at the DamSite last weekend. Live Shiners.
don’t let the lake level scare ya… tell mama the you gotta go fishin’ cause they are easier to find with the lake so low..
come see us..
