Elephant Butte Lake Fishing Report

Thursday March 30, 2017

The recent cold front slowed the fishing for the last few days…  today is beautiful here at the world center for fishing…

forecast for the weekend is maybe cloudy,,,,, maybe not… but not supposed to rain.. so the fishing should pick back up..

White Bass have been hitting strong off of Long Point over the flats..  and also the flats around McRae Canyon.   Jet boat cove and around Rattlesnake Island have produced good catches of Whites…Live bait, White crank-baits & Kastmasters..

Smallmouth have been caught around McRae Canyon and Rattlesnake Island on end line spinners…  Yellow & orange seem to be the best bet..

Some Walleye reported around the flats of Long Point.. but not enough to say that they are hitting well… we have plenty of “Walley Divers” (preferred bait for Walleye)..  So if you are here… getcha’ some…

The Crappie have been very strong around Castle Rock and Kettle Top…  Using live bait and end line spinners.. ( we have just upgraded to “Panther Martin” end line spinners so we should have plenty..

We are bringin’ in a load of small to medium Fathead minnows for the Crappie.. We will get them on Friday afternoon..

All bets are off as far as what the weather will do to the fishin’ this weekend.. but don’t let that scare ya…

Tell mama that you misplaced the honey-do list ….

come see us..

Yester the Armando Lozoya family of Las Cruces filled the boat up with white bass and caught a big Flat head Catfish while fishing with Frank Viorio..
