Elephant Butte Lake Fishing Report

Friday September 22, 2017

Slower,,, but not Bad.. 09/22

The fall fishing patterns are in full swing..

Still lots of shad.. But lots and lots of small fish of all species.. which is great for the future..

Water temperature now dropping to around 76 in the AM.

Everything basically remains the same as last weeks report.  .

The team that won the bass tournament last weekend weight over 12 pounds,  5 fish.  So the Blacks and Smallmouth are still active.

The White Bass have been being caught all over the lake in the mornings and evenings.  Rock Canyon, Damsite and the rocky canyons around the Butte on the south end.

The Walleye are spotty.. South Rock Canyon area trolling with Wally divers and Chartreuse crank baits..

Catfish on the other hand are getting strong..

Good stringers of nice size Cats are being caught on cut bait.  The Catfish are starting to move to deep water.  So find an area that you can get your bait into 30 – 50 feet..   Live bait are no longer the ticket.. you can’t get live bait down to 30′ without it dying.  Cut Bait or shrimp are the ticket..  Early mornings and late evenings into the night are best ..

Tell mama that you gotta go fishin’ before the winter..

come & see us..
