FISHIN REPORT WEEK OF 04/24/24

Fishin’ report provided by Frank Vilorio, Land of Enchantment Fishing

Water temperature 63 degrees in the A.M.
Fishing for whitebass has been good trolling crank baits, swim baits and Alabama rigs from Flying Eagle towards the black bluffs.
Some seagulls a starting to work out in the channels diving over schools of feeding whitebass, which is unusual this time of year.
If you see gulls diving go to the area and use kastmasters, slabs and spoons over feeding schools. Look on graft to see the depth they are at. You can also cast out swimbait and reel in slowly to attract preditor fish.
Large mouth bass fishing has been good, fish have started to move into sallow water 1 to 3 feet, target brush by the bank casting plastic worms and grubs with slow retrieve or flipping into bushes. Good catches were reported last few bass tournaments. Big fish in the 6 pound rage
Few catches of Crappies have been reported using small live minnows and crappie jigs tipped with a minnow in the back of coves 6 to 15 feet deep.
Some Walleyes being caught in the river using jig head with nightcrawlers.
Cat fishing is good on cut bait, shad and cut up carp drift fishing in the channel from Kettle top to long point.

It’s good to get the fishin season finally underway.. I’ll try to get a current report out every Thursday morning or so..
