FISHIN’ REPORT WEEK OF 05/04/2023

the lake is rising fast.. this is changing the habitat daily.. so the fishin’ is challenging..

Water temps are still in the low 60 deg. range…

Crappie are very dependable along the cliffs on the east side, as well as under the Marinas.. especially Dam Site.. Pretty much any structure is holding Crappie.. using small Shiners or Fatheads. Small jigs or Kastmasters..

We are stocking SMALL shiners as well as Fatheads and Med. shiners.. the crappie are preferring the small shiners.. the smaller the better..

Night fishin’ is starting to pickup in the same areas..

White Bass have come alive today.. dragging Bombers, white or chrome seem to be popular.. east side of the channel under Kettle top, around the end of Long Point, or McRae canyon..

Black Bass & Smallmouth are just picking up.. creature baits along main lake and secondary points..

Early mornings have been the best.. but we had several folks come back to the minnow tanks for bait in the mid afternoon.. the whites have been biting in the early to mid afternoon around the rocks off the end of long point..

The walleye are getting better as the water warms up.. still hanging around 8 – 10 feet in long sandy banks.. east side as well as south long point..

The walleye have turned on very well at Caballo lake on the east side along the gravel banks by the cotton woods.. trolling in 6-8 feet with yellow, chrome or chartreuse Walley Divers or medium diving crankbaits..

No good catfish reports this week..

the wind is supposed to get up tomorrow and some on Saturday afternoon..

Stephanie will have Casa Taco burritos on Friday, then we will have the food trailer at the store on Saturday and Sunday.. so come get fed..
