FISHIN’ REPORT – WEEK OF 05/25/2023

Water temperature 69 degrees in the mornings..

white bass good on crankbaits, kastmasters, sassy shad and live shiners, trolling north of kettle top on east side, live bait works good on long points leading to main channel around 6 to 10 feet using light line.

Crappie fishing is good on jig heads tipped with small shiners in shallow water and out to 15 feet over cocklebur bunches and salt cedar bunches.

Night fishing is good at the marinas using lights for crappies and white bass with live bait in 20 to 30 feet.

Some Walleyes being caught off points with curry tail and twin tail jigs. Chartreuse and white are good color choices target 6 to 9 feet of water.

Large mouth and small mouth bass is good using plastic worms around rocky points and submerged bunches.

The spawn has been sporadic this year.. the black bass have sorta spawned but not very well.. currently the carp seem to be spawning, and boy do we have a lot of carp this year.. usually the white bass seem to spawn and move south after the carp spawn, and the Walley go shallow and get active. … there is not scientific data to show this.. but there are a bunch of old timers and really good fishermen around here that will tell ya that this is the way it happens.. so we should see the White Bass and the Walleye bite get really good soon..

After all, fishin is just a sport of drowning worms..

This weekend looks to be very crowded for the Memorial Day weekend.. So be careful and mindful of other folks..
